Day after day I get asked the question: Are you Dorothy?
To most people's disappointment, my answer is no! But who was Dorothy and how did a tea room appear in a pretty Somerset village, in the middle of nowhere? Here is a little history lesson from dear Derek Esp:
"The space now occupied by Dorothy's Tea Room used to be the village Post Office. In 1991 it became home for Gill and I, together with our 3 children and Gill's parents. In 2003, Gill and her friend Sheila opened Dorothy's Tea Room, named after Gill's mother Dorothy, who used to live in the rooms of the tea room. It was intended to provide a social meeting place for the village, but it quickly collected visitors from far and wide. Dorothy and Gill would be delighted that the Tea Room continues to go from strength to strength and is once again the hub of the village."
So here we are 12 years and many pots of tea later. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity of continuing Gill and Sheila’s dream and creating a lovely, relaxing place for people to enjoy some delicious home-cooked food and indulgent cakes, for many years to come. I look forward to welcoming you.
